I found the bike I always wanted as a kid - beat up, with a wrecked paint job, rusty, and 28 years old. (S/N GL501100, MFD July, 1975 in Chicago.) I want to restore it as close as possible to the way I would've decked it out when I was thirteen. Here's the progress.

Ride Illinois has recently asked for improved bicycling conditions on 17 upcoming IDOT road projects in District 6, in Springfield and West Central Illinois. If you ride in any of these areas, please take a moment to read our letters and let us know if you have further suggestions.
Join us June 11 - 16, 2017 for our Grand Illinois Bike Tour! Come experience scenic northwestern Illinois on our fully-supported, loop ride through Byron, Dixon, Savanna, Quad Cities, and Sterling. Bike along the Rock River and Mississippi River valleys on quiet rural roads and some trails, and experience the charming towns of our grand Illinois. Ride at your own pace with daily routes ranging 43-59 miles and longer route options available. Choose between camping and motel options and enjoy overnights filled with good food and good fellowship with riders hailing from around the country. Proceeds benefit Ride Illinois and support our mission to make Illinois a better, safer, and more enjoyable place to ride.
The Grand Illinois Bike Tour is limited to 230 participants and already over 70% capacity. Less than 20 rooms remain for our motel option, so sign up today and grab your spot!
We're in the midst of preparing our annual ride mailing which includes brochures from many organized bike rides taking place around Illinois. Many of the rides are single-day, on a weekend, on relatively quiet rural roads, with a variety of mileage options. Some rides attract dozens, many others bring in hundreds, and a few range from 1,000 to 20,000 riders!
